What to Look for as You Shop
If you’ve never owned a fruit infuser water bottle or simply want to replace the dud you have, here are a few things to keep in mind as you compare products.
- Lid. How do you extract the water from the bottle? Does it have a locking spout with a flip-top design like the Infusion Pro Water Infuser or is it a twist top lid like the one on the Savvy Infusion Water Bottle?
Many feature the locking spout and flip-top, which helps prevent you from spilling the water when you want to drink, but the seal on the twist top lids is superior between sips, and you won’t have any leaking problems.
- Sleeve. Does the bottle come with a sleeve? Not only will this help you avoid picking up a “sweaty” bottle, but it also helps insulate it and keep your drink cooler for longer.
- Size of Holes on the Infuser. When you submerge the fruit in water, the chances are that small bits and seeds will break loose as it softens. The filter, therefore, should have holes that are fine enough to prevent those bits from mixing with the rest of the water.
Some bottles also have a strainer on the top to help prevent any escaped pulp from passing through.
- Leak-Proof. Leaking seems to be a big issue with these bottles, so check to see what other consumers have to say about a product’s ability to keep the water inside if you’ve had bad luck with other bottles in the past.
Bottle Materials
Which is better when it comes to infusing water with fruit – glass or plastic?
- Plastic. The majority of manufacturers these days know that consumers want a BPA-free product. We’ve all heard how Bisphenol A (BPA) has been linked to things like infertility, obesity, heart disease, and diabetes, so the material does give us cause to worry!
That being said, you will notice that all manufacturers in our table used BPA-free plastic, and many people prefer plastic because it is much lighter than glass!
- Glass. It wasn’t easy to find fruit-infusing glass water bottles, but we did manage to track down two and included them on our list.
While they may be heavier and more delicate, glass bottles will not absorb odors, stain, or leak any materials into your water – ever. The best fruit infuser water bottle is made of Borosilicate glass, which is some of the best for use in the kitchen and cooking since it can handle temperature changes so well.
Usually, glass bottles contain stainless steel lids, or in the case of the Nalu Drinkware Fruit Infusion Bottle, a wood lid with a silicone stopper.
Keep in mind that glass can also handle both hot and cold beverages while plastic can only handle cold drinks.
Top 3 Best Fruit Infuser Water Bottle Reviews
1. Infusion Pro Water Infuser
Capacity. 24 Ounces.
By far the best fruit infuser water bottle on the list is the Infusion Pro. It may not be as popular as some of the other choices on our list, but after trying so many different products, this one stood out as the clear winner for a variety of reasons.
First, they provide you with a strainer at the top of the bottle to help prevent any bits of fruit pulp from heading up into the spout and blocking it. Even if you untwist the cap and drink directly, it also helps you drink less pulp, which is great if you can’t stand those little bits when you drink!
Second, they provide you with a handy neoprene sleeve to help insulate your fruit water.
Third, the bottle opens from both ends so cleaning it is much easier and you can be more thorough.
The best part about this bottle? They offer you a lifetime warranty. You can get a refund or replacement for your bottle at any time, and they are known for providing excellent customer service.
2. Swig Savvy Sports Bottle
Capacity. 16 Ounces.
This bottle can go with you just about anywhere thanks to its sporty design. It has a sports strap, a layer of silicone around the bottle that provides you with grip, and the seal is excellent – no leaks here!
Unlike the other bottles on our list, this one doesn’t have an infuser basket that submerges into the water but rather a strainer at the top to help prevent fruit from passing through as you drink.
More pulp is likely to get through this one as a result, and if you have a lot of fruit, it can all gather at the top of the strainer when you tip it and cause a blockage. You might have to shake the fruit around as you’re drinking, but if you only put in a few lemons or very little fruit, you won’t have this problem.
It appeals to athletes who want a metabolism-friendly drink to take on the go, but for serious fruit water nuts, it isn’t the best infuser water bottle for said purpose.
3. Savvy Infusion Water Bottle
Capacity. 24 Ounces.
One of the most popular bottles on the list is from Savvy Infusion. It is less expensive than some the others we tried and probably the best one in its price range.
While you may not have the locking spout and flip-top lid, you do have fewer leakage issues since the threads help keep the water inside.
It works just like any other fruit infuser bottle, but this one lacks some of the bells and whistles that the top bottle had. There is no strainer at the top to prevent pulp from passing through, it doesn’t have a sleeve on the outside, and there is no warranty.
In spite of this, not many people are interested in a warranty on a water bottle, and the good warranty the Infusion Pro also increased the initial price a bit.
If you don’t care about the warranty and want a good bottle, Savvy Infusion is.
